TL;DR · Lead Software Engineer

As a Lead Software Engineer within the Consumer and Community Banking Operations Dispute technology team, you will serve as a core technical contributor designing and deploying highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems. You will lead full-stack development, drive long-term architecture strategy, and manage cloud modernization initiatives for high-volume financial transactions. Your daily work involves conducting technical designs, performing code reviews, and establishing observability frameworks for system reliability. You will utilize a technical stack including Java, Spring Boot, React JS, and AWS services like EC2, Lambda, and S3, alongside Terraform for infrastructure-as-code. Key responsibilities include implementing event-driven architectures using Kafka and SQS, ensuring security via OAuth2, and driving the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed within a complex financial services environment.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems and cloud modernization initiatives.
  • Drive technical design decisions regarding technology stacks, architectural patterns, and infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide hands-on guidance to engineers on complex technical challenges and drive code review excellence.
  • Ensure code quality and security through automated testing, static analysis, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve delivery speed and code quality.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive observability frameworks including logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing.
  • Provide L3 production support and serve as the technical escalation point for critical system issues.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and delivery roadmaps with cross-functional teams.

What we're looking for

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of experience building enterprise-grade applications.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API design, and microservices architecture for scalable distributed systems.
  • Strong experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, CloudWatch) and Terraform.
  • Proficiency in front-end development with React JS, including Redux/Context API and modern JavaScript.
  • Proven experience implementing event-driven architectures using message queues (SQS/SNS) and streaming platforms like Kafka or AWS MSK.
  • Strong understanding of application security, including OAuth2/JWT, encryption, secrets management, and secure API design.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and understanding responsible AI engineering workflows.
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, TDD, application resiliency patterns, and observability tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, and CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry, regulatory requirements, and IT systems (preferred).
  • Experience with Agentic AI solutions, machine learning model integration, or AI-powered automation frameworks (preferred).
  • Exposure to Camunda BPMN or other workflow orchestration engines (preferred).
  • Experience with GraphQL API design and implementation (preferred).
