As a Java / AWS Lead Software Engineer within the Consumer and Community Bank, you will join an agile team to build and deliver trusted, scalable technology products. You will be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance solutions, developing secure production code, and leading incident response for critical production issues. Your daily work involves managing cloud infrastructure, driving DevOps practices like CI/CD and infrastructure as code, and evaluating emerging technologies. You will utilize a technical stack including Java, Spring Boot, AWS services such as Lambda and EKS, Terraform, Oracle, and PostgreSQL. Additionally, you will lead the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices. This role focuses on solving complex technical problems within a banking environment, specifically addressing payments processing and ensuring operational stability through automation and robust system design.
Design and implement scalable, high-performance solutions using Java, Spring, AWS, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
Develop secure production code and perform code reviews and debugging for other team members.
Lead incident response and root cause analysis for critical production issues to drive preventive actions.
Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency, security, compliance, and operational resilience.
Drive adoption of DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated testing.
Implement enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve overall system stability.
Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to probe architectural designs and technical credentials.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Strong experience with Java, AWS, Spring Boot, and Terraform.
Proficiency in Java with working knowledge of SQL and a strong understanding of software development best practices.
Extensive hands-on experience with relational databases, particularly Oracle and PostgreSQL, including design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, KMS, ECS, EKS, S3, EMR, Athena, SQS, and EventBridge.
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure provisioning tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
Familiarity with modern front-end technologies (preferred).
Certifications in target areas such as Cloud, Kubernetes, or IaC (preferred).
Understanding of payments processing within a banking environment (preferred).
