As a Java / AWS Lead Software Engineer within the Consumer and Community Bank, you will join an agile team to build and deliver secure, stable, and scalable market-leading technology products. You will serve as a core technical contributor responsible for designing high-performance solutions, troubleshooting complex problems, and managing cloud infrastructure with a focus on cost efficiency and operational resilience. Your daily work involves developing production code, leading incident response, and driving DevOps practices like CI/CD and infrastructure as code. You will utilize Java, Spring Boot, AWS services including Lambda and EKS, Terraform, Oracle, and PostgreSQL to solve technical challenges. Additionally, you will lead the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering tools while ensuring secure coding standards. The role involves managing payments processing within a banking environment and evaluating architectural designs for integration into existing systems.
Develop secure, high-quality production code using Java, Spring, AWS, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
Design and implement scalable, resilient, and high-performance technical solutions for business objectives.
Lead incident response and root cause analysis to drive preventive actions for critical production issues.
Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency, security, compliance, and operational resilience.
Drive the adoption of DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated testing.
Implement enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.

What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Strong experience with Java, AWS, Spring Boot, and Terraform.
Proficiency in Java with working knowledge of SQL and a strong understanding of software development best practices.
Extensive hands-on experience with relational databases, specifically Oracle and PostgreSQL, including design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, Lambda, KMS, ECS, EKS, S3, EMR, Athena, SQS, EventBridge) and infrastructure tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools while ensuring security and quality standards; familiarity with front-end technologies, relevant certifications, and banking payment processing knowledge (preferred).
