Lead Network Engineer, Backbone Engineering

What you'll do

• Project manage new capacity installs with sourcing and field engineering teams.
• Develop and maintain network configuration automation using Python and Ansible.
• Manage BGP peering relationships and design peering network architectures.
• Execute backbone router migrations, grooms, and decommissionings.
• Update network datastores for capacity additions and decommissions.
• Maintain Network Data Sources of Truth and associated documentation.
• Troubleshoot customer connectivity issues with partners and engagement teams.
• Develop and maintain metrics for capacity vendors.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 7 years of experience in production network environments or comparable experience.
• A related technical degree is required.
• Experience working with telecommunications vendors and Cisco/Juniper carrier-class routers.
• Experience with Cisco Nexus-based switches and knowledge of BGP and IS-IS routing protocols.
• Strong Python coding skills and experience developing network automation tools using Ansible.
• Experience with Git or other version control systems and Unix/Linux-based operating systems.
• Experience managing co-located infrastructure and DWDM platforms, preferably Ciena and Cisco DCI (preferred).
• Experience with MACSec encryption, Puppet, Terraform, Containers, and K8S (preferred).
