TL;DR · Lead Java Engineer

Lead Java Engineer joins the Core Online team to design, develop, and support large-scale enterprise applications and global platforms. This role involves building high-volume, low-latency systems, microservices, and REST APIs while providing technical leadership and mentoring for engineers. The position focuses on implementing CI/CD, DevSecOps, and automated testing while ensuring platform reliability through monitoring and incident response in highly regulated data environments. Key technologies include the Java and Spring ecosystem—specifically Spring Boot, Batch, Security, Cloud, and Data—alongside Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Maven, Git, and SonarQube. Testing tools like JUnit, TestNG, WireMock, and TestContainers are utilized for quality assurance. The role addresses the challenge of maintaining secure, scalable distributed systems that manage sensitive data across multiple countries and cloud environments while integrating modern capabilities like AI-assisted development and RAG architectures.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and support large-scale Java-based enterprise applications and global platforms.
  • Lead the architecture and implementation of cloud-native, microservices-based solutions using modern engineering practices.
  • Build high-volume, low-latency applications to meet strict availability and performance objectives.
  • Develop REST APIs, event-driven services, and distributed systems for global business operations.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive engineering best practices across the team.
  • Implement CI/CD, DevSecOps, automated testing, and software quality practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Ensure platform reliability through monitoring, observability, incident response, and root cause analysis.
  • Apply security best practices and data protection controls for highly regulated and sensitive environments.

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Java and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience designing and developing distributed systems, microservices architectures, RESTful APIs, and event-driven applications.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications on cloud platforms, with GCP preferred.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and leading incident resolution efforts.
  • Experience working with highly regulated data and implementing security controls like authentication, encryption, and OWASP best practices.
  • Expertise in the Java and Spring ecosystem including Spring Boot, Batch, Security, Cloud, and Data.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (GCP), container technologies (Kubernetes), and CI/CD tools (Maven, Git, SonarQube).
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, WireMock, and TestContainers.
  • Experience integrating AI/LLM solutions or RAG architectures (preferred).
  • Experience with Google Cloud Spanner or other globally distributed databases (preferred).
  • Experience designing multi-region and multi-cloud architectures (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices (preferred).
  • Architecture, Cloud, Kubernetes, Security, or SRE certifications (preferred).
