What you'll do

Develop and execute a forward-looking vision and strategy for mainframe network engineering aligned with organizational goals.
Lead and mentor a team of mainframe network engineers to foster technical excellence and professional growth.
Oversee the end-to-end design, implementation, and maintenance of mainframe network infrastructure for connectivity and security.
Ensure high levels of availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity for all mainframe network operations.
Integrate enterprise-authorized AI capabilities into infrastructure analysis, design documentation, and automation routines.
Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and compliance requirements for mainframe network engineering.
Monitor emerging technologies and regulatory changes to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Provide actionable reporting to senior leadership regarding mainframe network performance, risks, and strategic initiatives.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
15+ years of progressive experience in mainframe network engineering, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Deep expertise in IBM z/OS, VTAM, TCP/IP, OSPF, SNA, and network security.
Advanced understanding of TLS protocols (especially TLS 1.3) and AT-TLS for securing mainframe communications.
Proficiency in packet analysis using Wireshark and troubleshooting techniques for mainframe environments.
Experience with enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support infrastructure workflows while ensuring data security and auditability.
Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries (preferred).
Professional certifications in relevant technologies such as IBM, Cisco, or CompTIA (preferred).
