Intern Application Developer – IBM Technology & Red Hat - 2027 is a role within the IBM Consulting FutureNow Center where you will work alongside experienced professionals to solve real business and technology challenges for global clients. You will contribute to project activities by collaborating with cross-functional teams, supporting solution design and documentation, and writing, testing, and improving code for assigned components. The role focuses on application modernization, hybrid cloud, automation, enterprise integration, and Red Hat technologies. You will gain exposure to full-stack development, cloud platforms, databases, operating systems, and modern UI frameworks. Required skills include proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, or C++, along with knowledge of object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, APIs, Git, Agile methodologies, DevOps concepts, and Artificial Intelligence.
Write, test, and improve code for assigned components under professional guidance.
Assist team members with technical specifications and documentation of design decisions.
Contribute to application modernization, hybrid cloud, and automation projects.
Develop solutions using Red Hat technologies, databases, and modern UI frameworks.
Participate in project activities to help shape technical solutions from client requirements.
Engage in code reviews to learn established software quality practices.
Support enterprise integration initiatives for public and private sector clients.
What we're looking for
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
Basic understanding of programming concepts and experience with at least one language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, or C++.
Basic understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, databases, APIs, and problem-solving.
Experience gained through academic projects, internships, hackathons, student organizations, research, or other practical learning opportunities.
Familiarity with Git, APIs, databases, Agile development, DevOps concepts, cloud platforms, user interface frameworks, or software engineering best practices (preferred).
Interest in AI, cloud computing, automation, enterprise application development, and consulting (preferred).
