HPC Technical Lead

What you'll do

• Serve as the senior technical authority for HPC operations, architecture, and performance optimization.
• Support scientific workloads including genomics, bioinformatics, modeling, simulation, and AI/ML pipelines.
• Optimize user workloads through job sizing, code porting, parallelization, and GPU acceleration.
• Lead technical strategy for scientific data storage, parallel file systems, and high-speed networking.
• Provide guidance on future-state HPC and hybrid cloud architectures and modernization initiatives.
• Support integration of laboratory instruments, scientific workstations, and specialized scientific software.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across distributed compute systems, storage platforms, and scientific applications.
• Prepare technical documentation, configuration guidance, and engineering recommendations.

What we're looking for

• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Must have 10-12+ years of experience in HPC engineering, scientific computing, bioinformatics platforms, or advanced research infrastructure.
• Must have expertise with Linux environments, HPC schedulers, parallel computing, GPUs, and large-scale storage systems.
• Must have experience optimizing scientific workloads and supporting research computing users.
• Must be able to communicate technical concepts to scientists, engineers, and program stakeholders.
• Master's Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Scientific Computing, or related field (preferred).
• Experience with Slurm, TORQUE/Moab, GPFS, Lustre, MPI, or containerized scientific environments (preferred).
• Experience with genomics, next-generation sequencing, or bioinformatics pipelines (preferred).
• Knowledge of cloud/HPC hybrid architectures (AWS preferred) (preferred).
• Experience supporting scientific computing in federal environments (preferred).
