What you'll do

Design, develop, and advance the high performance computing (HPC) environment.
Integrate software with the larger operational ecosystem at the facility site.
Manage software deployment using package managers like Spack to build from source and resolve dependencies.
Create and manage programming environments using environment modules or containers like Singularity.
Configure and maintain software stacks including compilers, scientific applications, and job resource managers.
Develop Python scripts for Spack package definitions and automation tasks.
Manage configurations and custom package definitions using version control systems.
Debug complex dependency conflicts within the HPC software stack.

What we're looking for

Proof of U.S. citizenship is required.
Strong background in Linux systems administration, including cluster management, performance tuning, and resource allocation in HPC settings.
Experience with package managers like Spack for software deployment, building from source, and maintaining multiple versions in production.
Experience creating and managing programming environments using environment modules (e.g., Lmod) or containers (e.g., Singularity/Apptainer).
Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python for Spack package definitions and automation.
Strong knowledge of build systems (e.g., Make, CMake, Autotools) and compilers (e.g., GCC, Intel, LLVM).
Experience with CI pipelines and proficiency with podman or similar container-based build environments.
PT2 level requires a Bachelor's and 2+ years of experience; PT3 level requires a Bachelor's and 4+ years of experience or a Master's and 2+ years.
