As a Senior HPC Performance Engineer within the NVHPC compilers and tools group, you will analyze and run High Performance Computing applications on HPC servers to gain deep insights into performance characteristics. You will work with applications ranging from small synthetic benchmarks to full distributed-memory systems utilizing heterogeneous compute nodes including CPUs, GPUs, and many-core processors. Your daily responsibilities involve identifying optimization opportunities for compiler and application engineering teams to help customers accelerate GPU performance. You must possess 8+ years of programming experience with Fortran, C, and C++, alongside expertise in OpenACC, OpenMP, MPI, and CUDA. The role requires strong skills in performance analysis, tuning, and numerical methods to solve complex problems regarding parallel architectures, machine micro-architectures, and assembly language programming within a product-oriented environment.

What you'll do

Analyze HPC applications to understand performance characteristics on distributed-memory systems.
Identify optimization opportunities for compiler development and application engineering teams.
Assist customers with GPU acceleration of HPC applications.
Provide technical advice to drive compiler and application engineering development.
Run synthetic benchmarks and full-scale applications on heterogeneous compute nodes.
Evaluate performance tradeoffs and impacts across CPUs, GPUs, and many-core processors.

What we're looking for

BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
8+ years of programming experience.
Solid understanding of Fortran/C/C++ and programming techniques for parallel architectures, preferably for compilers.
Experience with OpenACC, OpenMP, MPI, and CUDA.
Strong skills in performance analysis, tuning, and understanding of parallel applications development tools and runtime environments.
Strong mathematical fundamentals, including linear algebra and numerical methods.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with expert interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Deep understanding of machine architectures and micro-architectures (preferred).
