The Center for Advanced Computing at Cornell University is seeking a senior systems administrator (Systems Administrator IV) to design, deploy, and manage high-performance computing clusters and servers. This role involves implementing emerging cloud and storage technologies, recommending hardware and software solutions, integrating new systems into the existing environment, maintaining a secure infrastructure, testing tools, and developing training materials. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing Linux servers and HPC clusters, proficiency with cloud services and virtualization platforms, scripting skills in Python, shell, and Java, and knowledge of Red Hat Linux, CentOS, Eucalyptus, Hadoop, SQL Server, and MySQL. They must foster a collaborative culture that supports diversity and inclusion within the Cornell community.
Lead implementation of emerging cloud and storage technologies.

What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with at least five years of experience managing Linux servers and HPC clusters.
Proficient in troubleshooting hardware issues, evaluating future technologies, and providing recommendations for upgrades and installations.
Demonstrated scripting proficiency on various Linux platforms (Python, shell, Java) and experience administering core services like SSH, LDAP, Samba, NFS, and Sudo.
Strong problem-solving skills with proven ability to interact collaboratively within a team towards shared project goals.
Experience in the administration of cloud services and virtualization platforms, including real-time monitoring tools and distributed file systems.
