The HID Algorithms Engineer joins the Human Interface Devices group to build next-generation human-computer interactions from the ground up. You will develop and validate algorithmic concepts, taking prototypes from initial concept through production to create code for products used by millions. The role requires strong fundamentals in state machine design, statistics, signal processing, and machine learning. Essential technical skills include programming in C++ and Python, with preferred experience in real-time systems, Objective-C, Swift, and agentic workflows. This position focuses on the core problem of bringing new sensing technologies to life and defining how users interact with products through innovative input technologies.

What you'll do

Prototype and define end-to-end human-computer interaction paradigms using emerging technologies.
Develop and validate algorithmic concepts including state machines, signal processing, and machine learning.
Write production-ready code in C++ and Python for products used by millions of people.
Drive the technical work required to move prototypes from initial concept to final production.
Investigate new sensing technologies to create foundational interaction experiences for Apple products.
Perform root cause analysis and solve complex problems in ambiguous, early-stage development environments.

What we're looking for

Experience in early-stage algorithm development from concept through validation.
Strong fundamentals in mathematics, state machine design, statistics, signal processing, and machine learning.
Proficiency in programming with C++ and Python.
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Excellent problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in a related field.
Preferred experience in real-time systems, interaction technologies, Objective-C, Swift, or agentic workflows.
