Head of Sensors & Radar Strategic Supply Chain is a Director leadership role responsible for architecting and executing the sourcing strategy across all optical and radar commodities. You will lead a high-performing team to build a resilient, scalable supply chain capable of moving from New Product Introduction to high-volume production. The role involves managing complex sub-tier visibility, negotiating master service agreements, and performing should-cost modeling for critical components like EO/IR sensor systems, focal plane arrays, precision optics, LiDAR, and AESA radar subsystems. You will collaborate with engineering teams to influence design for manufacturing while navigating geopolitical landscapes and regulated defense supply channels. Key technical areas include RF/microwave assemblies, MMICs, and specialized radomes. This position solves the challenge of securing advanced technologies against global market volatility within the defense technology sector.
Develop and execute multi-year global sourcing strategies for complex sensor domains including AESA, radar, and optical engines.
Build and lead a high-performing team of commodity managers and technical sourcing engineers across multiple global sites.
Manage sub-tier supplier relationships and oversee investments in specialized tooling, cleanroom allocations, and fabrication machinery.
Partner with engineering teams during R&D to influence design for manufacturing and establish yield-improvement roadmaps.
Negotiate high-stakes master service agreements, long-term supply agreements, and complex statements of work with global manufacturers.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks by addressing single-source dependencies, geopolitical vulnerabilities, and capacity constraints.
Conduct "should-cost" modeling and total cost of ownership evaluations to optimize value across the product lifecycle.
Serve as the primary executive escalation point for critical supply chain matters during reviews with C-suite leadership.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related technical discipline.
10+ years of experience in optical & radar strategic sourcing, global commodity management, or supply chain leadership in complex hardware manufacturing.
5+ years of experience building, managing, and scaling high-performing procurement or supply chain teams.
Expertise negotiating enterprise agreements for EO/IR architectures, radar/RF sub-tier manufacturing, or precision optics fabrication.
Proven track record of managing supplier lifecycles and negotiating multi-million-dollar commercial agreements.
Deep understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) workflows from prototype to high-rate production.
Ability to travel 25%-50% domestically and internationally and relocate to Costa Mesa if necessary.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, optical engineering, or physics (preferred); experience in defense/aerospace (preferred); ability to obtain a U.S. Security clearance (preferred).
