TL;DR · Head of Raw Materials & Energetics Strategic Supply Chain

The Head of Raw Materials & Energetics Strategic Supply Chain is a Director-level role responsible for managing the end-to-end sourcing strategy for critical materials and energetic commodities. You will lead a high-performing team of commodity managers, strategic sourcing leads, and technical sourcing engineers to secure essential components like critical minerals, rare earth magnets, and energetic formulations such as propellants and explosives. The role involves developing multi-year global sourcing roadmaps, negotiating complex master service agreements, and managing sub-tier visibility to mitigate geopolitical risks and export controls. You will navigate the complexities of materials that are geographically concentrated or served by small supply bases. Key requirements include expertise in New Product Introduction workflows, experience with specialty chemicals, and proficiency in TCO analysis and should costing to ensure production is never limited by material availability.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute multi-year global sourcing strategies for critical minerals, rare earth elements, and energetic materials.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of commodity managers and technical sourcing engineers across global sites.
  • Establish deep sub-tier visibility to identify and mitigate geopolitical risks and single-source dependencies in the supply chain.
  • Negotiate complex master service agreements, joint development agreements, and long-term contracts for critical materials.
  • Manage market intelligence and pricing risk through hedging and index-based structures to protect against commodity volatility.
  • Oversee the transition of material sourcing from early-stage R&D through high-volume production.
  • Serve as the primary executive point of contact for raw materials and energetics supply matters with C-suite leadership.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in raw materials & energetics strategic sourcing, global commodity management of specialty chemicals, or defense-critical supply chains.
  • 5+ years of experience building, managing, and scaling high-performing procurement or supply chain teams.
  • Expertise negotiating enterprise-level agreements for critical minerals, rare earths, and energetic systems like propellants and rocket motors.
  • Proven track record of managing supplier lifecycles and negotiating complex multi-million-dollar commercial agreements.
  • Deep understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) workflows from prototype to high-rate production.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science (preferred); experience in defense/aerospace (preferred); ability to obtain a U.S. Security clearance (preferred).
  • Export controls, and single-source dependencies.
