TL;DR · Head of Strategic Supply Chain

As the Head of Strategic Supply Chain, you will join the leadership team to architect, scale, and execute an enterprise-wide sourcing strategy for complex hardware manufacturing. You will lead a high-performing team of commodity managers and technical sourcing engineers while overseeing end-to-end management of global direct and indirect commodities, including electronics, mechanical structures, raw materials, and optical systems. Your daily responsibilities involve building resilient supply ecosystems, forging strategic partnerships with Tier 1 suppliers and contract manufacturers, and managing high-stakes negotiations for master service agreements and long-term supply contracts. You will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to drive design-for-supply-chain initiatives and manage New Product Introduction workflows. Key competencies include expertise in total cost of ownership modeling, risk mitigation, and navigating the complexities of transitioning products from prototype stages to high-rate production within a defense technology context.

What you'll do

  • Define and execute multi-year global sourcing strategies for direct and indirect commodities to drive cost reduction and supply chain resilience.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of commodity managers and technical sourcing engineers across multiple global sites.
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for Tier 1 suppliers and contract manufacturers to establish long-term strategic alliances.
  • Partner with engineering teams to influence "design-for-supply-chain" and ensure smooth transitions from prototype to mass production.
  • Lead high-stakes negotiations for master service agreements, development agreements, and complex statements of work.
  • Identify geopolitical risks and single-source dependencies to develop proactive mitigation plans and dual-sourcing strategies.
  • Conduct "should-cost" modeling and total cost of ownership evaluations to optimize value across the product lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary executive escalation point for critical supply chain matters during reviews with C-suite leadership.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related technical discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, global commodity management, or supply chain leadership in complex hardware manufacturing.
  • 8+ years of experience building, managing, and scaling high-performing procurement or supply chain teams.
  • Expertise negotiating enterprise-level agreements and managing diverse portfolios including electronics, mechanicals, raw materials, and contract manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of managing supplier lifecycles and negotiating multi-million-dollar commercial agreements.
  • Deep understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) workflows and scaling from prototype to high-rate production.
  • Ability to travel between 25% and 50% domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security clearance.
