As a Graphics Power Architect, Platform Architecture, you will join the GPU Platform Architecture team to drive advanced exploration for next-generation GPU architectures in iPhone, iPad, and Mac products. You will work closely with architecture, design, and software partners to define and tune future GPU power architectures. Your daily responsibilities include developing C++ and Python code while building and maintaining GPU models specifically designed to understand and enhance the power architecture of Apple’s GPUs. You will collaborate with RTL designers and software teams to assess the feasibility of new hardware and software power features through experimentation and reporting. The role requires expertise in GPU or CPU micro-architecture design, power modeling, active power management, and potentially creating adaptive or machine learning based algorithms to solve complex design challenges within the high-performance chip design space.

What you'll do

  • Define and tune future GPU power architectures for iPhone, iPad, and Mac products.
  • Develop and maintain GPU models using C++ and Python to analyze power architecture.
  • Assess the feasibility of new hardware and software power features with cross-functional partners.
  • Run experiments and report findings to optimize device power management.
  • Analyze and optimize active power management for high-performance GPU designs.
  • Create adaptive or machine learning based algorithms for power management systems.
  • Solve complex design challenges across the lifecycle from architecture to production.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Experience in GPU or CPU architecture and micro-architecture design.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and a scripting language such as Python or Ruby.
  • Experience working as part of large cross-functional teams (preferred).
  • Experience in power modeling, active power management, and analyzing or optimizing device power (preferred).
  • Experience creating adaptive or machine learning based algorithms (preferred).
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (preferred).
  • 20+ years of relevant experience (preferred).
