The Global Project Engineer joins the Global Project Engineering team to assist in the design, build, and creation of technical builds for production and broadcast facilities. This role involves planning new production systems, managing equipment purchases, tracking budgets, and maintaining engineering SOPs for plant routing, sync systems, and fiber satellite transmit systems. The engineer will collaborate with operations to gather requirements, create CAD drawings, and manage project schedules. Key technical requirements include proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Lucid Charts, and non-linear editing applications like Avid and DaVinci Resolve. Candidates must understand SD, HD, and UHD video standards, as well as SRT, NDI, and ST-2110 routing. Experience with AWS, Azure, and monitoring tools like ServiceNow and Splunk is also required to support media infrastructure.
Design and plan new and upgraded production systems, including facility changes and equipment purchases.
Consult with Operations teams to gather requirements and manage the deployment of new systems.
Write and maintain engineering SOPs for broadcast and production systems like plant routing and fiber systems.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including CAD drawings, user manuals, and project templates.
Track incoming equipment against purchase orders to confirm receipt and correctness.
Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for equipment and software selection.
Set up demonstrations and provide training for new or potential equipment and software.
Use monitoring tools like ServiceNow and Splunk to track support tickets and system data.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience in Broadcast Project Engineering, Broadcast/Production system design, Broadcast/Production Project management, or a similar industry.
College degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Television Production (preferred).
Experience with AutoCAD 2018 or above, Microsoft Windows/Office, SharePoint, Lucid Charts/Visio, non-linear editing applications, and media management systems.
Thorough understanding of SD, HD, and UHD digital video standards and digital audio standards.
Thorough understanding of digital video encoding/decoding transport streams such as SRT, NDI, J2K, and other streaming/compression protocols.
Understanding of Software Defined Video Networking, ST-2110 routing, and cloud-based technologies like AWS and AZURE.
Ability to create, read, and decipher system schematic drawings.
Ability to lift heavy equipment as needed (50 lbs.).
