Lead Media Systems Engineer (Supervisory Duties) joins the Content Platforms & Operations team to oversee the technical and operational functions driving worldwide distribution and monetization of linear networks and theatrical content. This role involves managing the media supply chain, storage, localization, and network transmission while ensuring high levels of quality and resiliency for video and audio content. The engineer will resolve complex system outages, perform maintenance on broadcast equipment like switchers and playout servers, and lead the development of technical policies. Key technologies include IP 2110 essence flow routing, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), SMPTE standards, and Evertz software control systems. Candidates must possess expertise in media acquisition, transcoding, and file-based workflows while utilizing tools like AutoCAD for documentation. The role requires proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, NodeJS, Bash, or PowerShell to maintain a competitive technical edge.

What you'll do

  • Resolve complex technical issues affecting media acquisition, production, and distribution across multiple networks.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain audio/video signals in both traditional SDI and IP 2110 environments.
  • Manage the design, build, and maintenance of broadcast systems including playout servers, switchers, and automation.
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure platforms and manage storage and compute resources for media workflows.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate technical staff while managing third-party service provider relationships.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize technology facilities and integration.
  • Manage the procurement of equipment and materials while staying within established budget guidelines.
  • Lead long-range planning for capital improvements and future media technology requirements.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience leading others and developing technical strategies for media engineering and live production environments.
  • Expert knowledge in integrating broadcast control room equipment and modern cabling infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with microservices, DevOps tools, and scripting languages like Python, NodeJS, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Proficiency in SMPTE standards (e.g., ST 2110, ST 2059) for broadcast television and streaming.
  • At least one foundational cloud certification, such as Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Cloud+, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Advanced knowledge of compression techniques (MPEG2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, JPEG XS) and Evertz software control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings and other technical documentation tools.
