As a Fire Control Test and Hardware Technician on the Trainers team, you will support the development of cutting-edge training systems for submarine fleets. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert to develop and execute test plans, perform system verification at customer sites, and provide technical instruction on operation and maintenance. As a hardware technician, you will install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain development hardware while managing inventory and power requirements. You will utilize expertise in the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System, SWFTS community standards, and Linux command line navigation to solve complex problems. The work involves integrating incomplete software builds to provide training for capabilities not yet present in the fleet. Key technical areas include network and computer hardware troubleshooting, as well as experience with MPA, NECDIS, Strike, ISAT, AN/BVY-1, AN/BQQ-10, and AN/BLQ-10 systems.
Develop and execute test plans to prepare training systems for delivery.
Execute system verification test documentation at customer sites to sell-off deliverable systems.
Provide technical instruction on system operation and maintenance to customers, users, and personnel.
Participate in tactical planning and design by attending system operation demos at partner locations.
Design, develop, analyze, and troubleshoot hardware during research and product development phases.
Install, configure, test, maintain, and troubleshoot development hardware.
Support the design and implementation of hardware infrastructure.
Maintain hardware inventory and document configuration changes for server room sustainment.
What we're looking for
Must possess a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at the time of hire.
U.S. citizenship is required for access to classified information.
Requires a Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related field, or 4 years of job-related experience plus 2 additional years of experience.
Alternatively, a Master's degree may be substituted for the required experience.
Must possess expert knowledge of the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System.
Requires significant experience in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network and computer hardware.
Experience working with the SWFTS community is required.
Preferred skills include Linux command line navigation and experience with Navy Submarine Design or specific systems like MPA, NECDIS, Strike, ISAT, AN/BVY-1, AN/BQQ-10, or AN/BLQ-10.
