TL;DR · Facilities Electrical Engineer

The Facilities Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facility electrical systems and rotating equipment within a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The role involves providing technical expertise in medium-voltage power distribution, including substations, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, and emergency power systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical failures, performing root cause analyses, and developing corrective actions to minimize downtime. The engineer will also manage the maintenance of motors, pumps, compressors, and generators while ensuring compliance with NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and arc flash requirements. Key technical competencies include experience with variable frequency drives, power system coordination, and the creation of one-line diagrams and technical reports. This role solves critical infrastructure challenges by improving asset reliability and coordinating complex electrical upgrades and testing activities with maintenance and project teams.

What you'll do

  • Provide engineering support for MV/LV distribution systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, and UPS systems.
  • Support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of rotating equipment like motors, pumps, and compressors.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical failures, power quality issues, and process interruptions to minimize downtime.
  • Perform root cause analyses (RCAs) and develop corrective actions to improve asset reliability.
  • Coordinate electrical maintenance activities, equipment upgrades, testing, and commissioning with internal teams and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and requirements such as NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including one-line diagrams, maintenance procedures, and equipment specifications.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting industrial or facilities electrical systems in manufacturing, chemical, semiconductor, data center, oil & gas, or similar environments.
  • Working knowledge of rotating equipment including motors, generators, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and associated protection/control systems.
  • Experience with medium-voltage power distribution systems including switchgear, transformers, relays, breakers, and power system coordination.
  • Proven reliability engineering and troubleshooting experience involving root cause analysis, failure investigations, predictive maintenance, and system optimization.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards, including NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and arc flash requirements.
  • Authorization to access information subject to U.S. export control laws.
