The Executive Director of Portfolio & Execution — Employee Platforms EA joins the Engineering & Architecture team to lead portfolio governance, execution transparency, and operating cadence. This role involves translating high-level strategy into coherent programs, roadmaps, and quarterly OKRs while managing dependencies, risks, and executive reporting. The individual will oversee the E&A operating cadence, standardize how strategies become executable programs, and drive engineering excellence by operationalizing DORA metrics. Key responsibilities include overseeing architecture governance to reduce fragmentation, managing firmwide initiatives like post-quantum encryption readiness, and planning responsible AI adoption in engineering workflows. Required skills include extensive experience in portfolio leadership, outcome-based governance, and executive communication. The role requires proficiency in modern engineering delivery practices, enterprise architecture concepts, DORA literacy, and basic AI evaluation literacy to manage complex technology estates within a regulated environment.
Translate high-level strategy into actionable roadmaps, annual priorities, quarterly OKRs, and detailed project milestones.
Manage the E&A operating cadence including portfolio health reviews, risk management, and escalation governance.
Produce executive-ready reporting to provide a single source of truth for progress, risks, and decisions.
Standardize the process of converting engineering strategies into executable programs with clear success measures.
Partner with teams to define, instrument, and report on DORA metrics and engineering performance.
Coordinate architecture governance to increase reuse, improve consistency, and reduce technical fragmentation.
Identify and execute portfolio rationalization to reduce duplication and waste across the technology estate.
Plan and measure the adoption of responsible AI within engineering and architecture workflows.
What we're looking for
10+ years of experience in portfolio/program leadership, strategy & execution, transformation, operating model, or governance roles in a large technology organization.
Demonstrated ability to design and run outcome-based governance and operating cadences including OKRs, KPIs, dependency management, and executive reporting.
Metrics-driven management capability to define measurable outcomes, standardize metric definitions, ensure instrumentation, and drive actions based on results.
Working fluency in modern engineering delivery practices and enterprise architecture concepts to partner with senior technical leaders.
DORA literacy to operationalize metrics within governance and report on performance reviews.
Strong executive communication skills to synthesize complex initiatives into concise written materials and decision-ready options.
Influence and collaboration skills to drive alignment across a matrixed organization without direct authority.
Basic AI skills including evaluation literacy, practical prompting, and responsible AI awareness (preferred); experience with AI governance concepts (preferred).
