The Executive Director - Principal Architect | Cloud-native Platform joins the Enterprise Technology Core Foundational Platforms team to drive the development and adoption of cloud-based technologies powering critical AI and platform capabilities. This role involves defining foundational platform architecture for neocloud, on-premises, and appliance-based environments to ensure AI workloads remain abstracted, portable, and resilient. Key responsibilities include advising cross-functional teams on technology selection, developing multi-year architecture roadmaps, and shepherding designs through formal review gates. The position requires expertise in programming languages, system design, and application development, with a focus on cloud, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The architect must solve complex problems regarding model training, fine-tuning, and inference by establishing reusable engineering patterns, governance frameworks, and secure production code while ensuring alignment with firmwide control plane architectures.
Define and document foundational platform architecture for neocloud, on-premises, and appliance-based environments.
Develop and maintain multi-year architecture roadmaps aligned with business strategy and AI platform priorities.
Specify new architectural patterns to enable emerging AI capabilities and establish reuse-first engineering patterns.
Shepherd designs through all architectural review gates to ensure evidence and approvals are satisfied.
Develop secure production code and review code written by others to ensure compliance with standards.
Ensure platform alignment with the firmwide control plane architecture for database and service abstractions.
Apply enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate architecture analysis and design decisioning.
Document integration with firmwide services while satisfying all necessary security and compliance controls.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on architecture concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability across complex, large-scale environments.
Expertise in one or more programming languages with a strong foundation in writing, reviewing, and debugging production-grade code.
Deep knowledge of software architecture, application development, and technical processes in disciplines such as cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile.
Demonstrated experience applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within architecture and engineering workflows with awareness of data sensitivity.
Experience leading a product as a product owner or product manager to align technical direction with business outcomes.
Ability to present and communicate complex architectural concepts to senior leaders and executives.
Formal certification in enterprise, solution, or software architecture such as TOGAF, Open CA, or a cloud provider Professional/Expert Architect certification (preferred).
