Engineering Manager, Data Foundations

What you'll do

• Hire, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team within the Data Foundations group.
• Lead the technical architecture for distributed data systems including ingestion, buffering, enrichment, and querying.
• Manage the delivery of the Data Insights Platform roadmap in collaboration with Product and Design teams.
• Oversee the integration of search capabilities and analytics platforms to provide customer-facing insights.
• Ensure high standards for security, privacy, and governance across all platform data handling.
• Improve operational maturity through enhanced observability, capacity planning, and performance monitoring.
• Drive the development of scalable infrastructure that supports multiple deployment models like SaaS and self-managed environments.
• Integrate AI tools into daily workflows to drive productivity and innovation across the engineering team.

What we're looking for

• Experience managing platform, infrastructure, or data systems teams at scale to build high-performing teams.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems including service boundaries, asynchronous pipelines, backpressure, and fault tolerance.
• Strong technical background in backend and platform engineering for high-throughput event pipelines and data systems.
• Experience with change data capture, event streaming, OLAP data stores, and query-serving layers.
• Ability to hire, develop, and coach team members while providing guidance on complex architecture and delivery tradeoffs.
• Proven ability to operate systems across multiple deployment models including SaaS, Dedicated, self-managed, and cell-based environments.
• Strong written communication skills for effective collaboration in an all-remote, asynchronous environment.
• Familiarity with search, indexing, and query-serving systems (preferred).
