Engineering Leader, Data Engineering

What you'll do

• Lead a large data engineering organization by setting technical direction and defining team structure.
• Oversee the design, development, and operation of massive-scale data pipelines for commerce, payments, and content.
• Drive technology modernization to shift data architecture toward an AI-first paradigm.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with customer-facing features and internal reporting.
• Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing engineering talent and future leaders.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards for data quality, reliability, scalability, and privacy.
• Communicate data strategy and program progress to senior engineering leadership and executive stakeholders.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading large engineering organizations of 50+ engineers with multiple layers of management.
• Proven track record of recruiting, developing leadership talent, and building high-performing engineering cultures at scale.
• Deep architectural expertise in large-scale data systems and software engineering best practices.
• Demonstrated success planning and executing large-scale technology modernization or platform migration programs.
• Experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
• Hands-on experience with Spark, Flink, Kafka, Apache Iceberg, and Snowflake (preferred).
• Background in AI/ML applications, commerce, payments, or media domains (preferred).
