The Engineering Manager, Lead will serve as a Squad Lead within a lean product organization, focusing on people leadership, predictable delivery, and operational execution. You will lead, coach, and mentor engineers to build a high-performing team culture while owning squad-level execution. Daily responsibilities include planning and tracking work through sprints, maintaining engineering artifacts like burndown charts and milestone plans, and providing transparent status reporting. You will identify risks regarding scope, quality, and dependencies while partnering with product management on roadmap feasibility and trade-offs. Required skills include experience with Agile delivery practices such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe, along with proficiency in CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and automated testing. You will ensure operational health by monitoring uptime, incident trends, and deployment safety practices.
Lead, coach, and mentor engineers to build a high-performing and accountable squad culture.
Own squad-level execution by defining, prioritizing, and tracking planned work throughout each sprint.
Maintain engineering artifacts including sprint plans, delivery plans, risk logs, and milestone tracking.
Provide transparent status reporting on burndown, milestone progress, critical path risks, and delivery forecasts.
Facilitate sprint reviews and milestone readiness discussions to identify gaps and demonstrate progress.
Identify and resolve risks related to schedule, scope, quality, resources, and technical dependencies.
Monitor squad operational health including uptime, incident trends, code quality, and security compliance.
Partner with product management on roadmap feasibility, prioritization, and delivery trade-offs.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience in software engineering.
2+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role such as engineering manager, squad lead, or team lead.
Experience leading an engineering team through planning, execution, delivery, and operational support.
Experience with Agile delivery practices, including Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
Experience creating and maintaining delivery visibility through status reporting, planning artifacts, dashboards, metrics, and regular execution cadences.
Ability to identify and communicate delivery risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly to product, engineering, and leadership audiences.
Bachelor's degree in CS or Engineering.
Experience working within a scaled engineering organization or SAFe environment (preferred).
Experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE), technology lead, engineering manager, or squad lead (preferred).
Experience with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and automated testing (preferred).
Experience working in security-conscious, regulated, or compliance-driven environments (preferred).
Experience helping scale an engineering team or establishing effective engineering management practices (preferred).
Experience partnering with product management on roadmap planning, prioritization, and delivery trade-offs (preferred).
Experience managing production services, on-call rotations, incident response, or operational readiness (preferred).
Possession of strong people leadership, coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills (preferred).
Master's degree in CS, Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
