Engineer - Sustainment

What you'll do

• Advise on submarine concept designs within Teamcenter 3D models to maximize operational availability and reduce ownership costs.
• Advocate for downstream maintenance stakeholders by balancing design requirements with the practical needs of the fleet.
• Perform assessments of ship systems and component designs regarding maintenance, accessibility, reliability, and lifting requirements.
• Conduct life cycle cost analyses to support relevant trade studies for the VIRGINIA and SSN(X) programs.
• Utilize NX Teamcenter to support major area team reviews and working-level meetings with Design and Engineering teams.
• Interpret ship specifications, desktop guides, and maintenance systems like the Class Maintenance Plan (CMP).
• Participate in industrial area walkthroughs of shipyard facilities and submarine hulls to increase deck plate awareness.

What we're looking for

• Must have a Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense.
• 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience is required.
• Preferred knowledge in Mechanical, Ocean, Structural, Electrical, Materials, or Systems Engineering applications.
• Preferred entry-level awareness of specification requirements, maintainability principles, failure history research, and interpreting drawings/diagrams.
• Must possess strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
• Must demonstrate an open-minded approach to learning new concepts and critical thinking.
