As an Embedded Systems Software Engineer on the Data/Networking team, you will design, develop, and maintain high-performance Ethernet networking and data-path drivers for Wireless Broadband, Automotive Infotainment, and Telematics platforms. You will work at the intersection of Linux kernel or QNX networking stacks, Ethernet device drivers, and SoC hardware like MACs, PHYs, and switches. Your daily responsibilities include developing low-level software components, performing on-target and off-target debugging using tools like gdb, perf, and ftrace, and managing features from requirements through commercialization. The role requires proficiency in C programming, knowledge of Linux kernel fundamentals such as memory management and DMA, and experience with TCP/IP stacks and Ethernet fundamentals. You will solve complex problems regarding networking performance, latency, and throughput while collaborating with hardware architecture and system teams to deliver robust solutions for demanding applications.
Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Ethernet networking and data-path drivers for mobile and automotive platforms.
Develop low-level software components including device drivers, firmware, and Linux kernel or QNX modules.
Perform on-target and off-target debugging to resolve functional, performance, and stability issues using standard embedded tools.
Own complex software features from initial requirements analysis through implementation, testing, and production commercialization.
Optimize networking workloads by analyzing and improving CPU utilization, latency, and throughput.
Support customer and field issues by analyzing problem reports and delivering robust technical fixes.
Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation including design descriptions and architecture specifications.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of experience.
Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of experience.
PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Strong proficiency in C programming for developing or debugging low-level system software (preferred).
Solid understanding of Linux kernel fundamentals including memory management, interrupts, DMA, synchronization primitives, and networking architecture (preferred).
Hands-on experience with networking concepts like Ethernet fundamentals, VLANs, TCP/IP stack, and L2/L3 packet flows (preferred).
Experience developing, integrating, or debugging device drivers on Linux or similar embedded OS (preferred).
Strong debugging skills using tools such as gdb, perf, ftrace, and experience with hardware-proximate development (preferred).
