TL;DR · Electronics Technician

The Electronics Technician (Falcon Test) provides technical expertise in instrumentation and data acquisition hardware to support launch vehicles and spacecraft. Working within a fast-paced environment, the technician performs complex tasks including installing sensors like pressure transducers and thermocouples, wiring electrical panels, and troubleshooting developmental electronic units. Day-to-day responsibilities involve interpreting schematics and blueprints, performing continuity checks with ohmmeters, calibrating process controls, and collaborating with design engineers to resolve issues derived from test data. The role requires proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering, crimping tools, and various bus architectures such as PXIe, GPIB, and Serial. Candidates must possess knowledge of signal conditioning for thermocouple types K, S, and E, along with experience in DC electronics and circuit modification to ensure the reliable operation of propulsion and structural systems during critical testing phases.

What you'll do

  • Install and verify sensors such as pressure transducers and thermocouples on test stands.
  • Perform layout, wiring, and assembly of electrical panels and components.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic systems.
  • Conduct continuity checks and identify wiring errors using multimeters and other measuring instruments.
  • Calibrate, configure, and monitor data acquisition hardware and process control systems.
  • Interpret technical documents including schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering blueprints.
  • Fabricate and install parts for test equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Analyze calibration results and assist in interpreting test data to identify system malfunctions.

What we're looking for

  • High school diploma or equivalency certification.
  • 2+ years of experience working with specific instrumentation like RTDs, strain gages, load cells, or pressure transducers (technical college counts).
  • Associate degree in instrumentation, control technology, electrical systems, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proficiency in soldering, crimping, wire stripping, and building junction boxes (preferred).
  • Knowledge of signal conditioning, DC electronics, Ohm's law, and Wheatstone bridge theory (preferred).
  • Experience with multiple bus architectures and data communication technologies (preferred).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting 25lbs, working in cramped spaces, at heights, and in extreme outdoor environments.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
