The Electrical Test Engineer joins the Manufacturing organization to design and build complex test systems and PCBA platforms ensuring products meet stringent quality standards. This role involves owning full-cycle PCB design for test hardware, including requirements capture, schematic design, component selection, layout, and integration into production test environments. Key responsibilities include designing circuits for FPGA-based data acquisition boards, MCU data interfaces, and wiring harnesses while performing bring-up and debugging for low-speed interfaces like I2C, SPI, and CAN, as well as high-speed signals like RF and USB. Candidates must utilize Altium Designer, PLM systems, and electronics test equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. The work focuses on developing test automation platforms and applying DFT best practices to enable comprehensive tester design for defense technology products.
Design circuits and schematics for test automation platforms, including FPGA-based data acquisition boards and MCU interfaces.
Own the full-cycle PCB design process from requirements capture and component selection through fabrication and assembly.
Architect and source circuit board test fixtures using custom designs and off-the-shelf data acquisition equipment.
Bring up, debug, and characterize circuits across low-speed and high-speed signal interfaces.
Apply Design for Test (DFT) best practices to new products to enable comprehensive tester design.
Partner with firmware engineers to enable board support packages for embedded Linux and MCU RTOS platforms.
Integrate hardware designs into configuration management systems using established control and release processes.
Improve test automation methods, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields, or 6+ years of advanced knowledge in lieu of degree.
4+ years of professional experience in electrical hardware design with an emphasis on products that have gone to manufacturing.
Expertise in PCBA design, including the ability to design, fabricate, and guide contract manufacturing resources.
Full understanding of PCB layout techniques to meet mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing requirements.
Experience with Altium Designer or equivalent E-CAD tools for schematic capture and layout.
Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB, and common MCU/FPGA devices.
Familiarity with electronics test equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, and data acquisition sensors.
Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
