As a Director of Software Engineering- Core Global WAN, you will join the Core Global Wide Area Network team to lead the architecture and engineering required to consolidate multiple network environments into a unified global platform. You will define technical strategies for carrier-scale routing, segment routing, traffic engineering, and path optimization while translating complex architectures into executable plans for design, certification, and production rollout. Your daily work involves building software-defined capabilities to automate configuration, monitoring, and operational workflows using Python, Go, and infrastructure as code. You will also implement telemetry, automated validation frameworks, and enterprise-authorized artificial intelligence for anomaly detection and predictive analysis. The role focuses on modernizing global connectivity services by solving challenges in network resiliency, capacity management, and large-scale migration within a complex telecommunications backbone environment.
Lead the multiyear transformation of multiple wide area networks into a unified global network platform.
Define technical strategies for carrier-scale routing, segment routing, traffic engineering, and network resiliency.
Translate complex network architectures into executable plans for design, certification, migration, and production rollout.
Develop software-defined capabilities to automate network configuration, route validation, and operational workflows.
Create pre-change and post-change validation frameworks to identify configuration issues and routing anomalies.
Integrate enterprise-authorized artificial intelligence for anomaly detection, predictive analysis, and automated engineering reviews.
Establish engineering standards and guardrails for automation and AI-assisted workflows to ensure security and auditability.
Improve global network stability through telemetry, incident management, and proactive remediation of repeat issues.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, network engineering, or a related technical discipline.
10+ years of applied experience in the field.
Extensive experience designing, engineering, or operating large-scale global wide area networks, telecommunications backbones, or cloud networks.
Deep knowledge of MPLS, segment routing, BGP, traffic engineering, routing policy, network resiliency, and capacity management.
Advanced knowledge of network automation and software-defined infrastructure with programming experience in Python, Go, or similar languages.
Experience developing solutions using APIs, infrastructure as code, CI/CD practices, configuration management, and automated testing.
Experience applying enterprise-authorized artificial intelligence capabilities within technical workflows including validation and sensitive data handling.
Experience at a telecommunications provider, hyperscale technology company, or cloud provider (preferred); hands-on experience with Arista and Cisco technologies (preferred).
