What you'll do

  • Define and evolve Reddit’s global IP litigation strategy aligned with product roadmaps and business goals.
  • Oversee the global IP portfolio to ensure alignment with business priorities and competitive differentiation.
  • Develop strategic stances regarding emerging and novel international IP matters.
  • Translate complex competitive IP landscapes into actionable recommendations for internal stakeholders.
  • Provide expert counsel on copyright, trademark, patent, and trade secret matters to cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to mitigate risks and build the company's patent portfolio.
  • Manage risk and navigate complex challenges regarding Reddit’s brand, business, and innovations.

What we're looking for

  • JD, top academic background, and current license in a state bar in the United States.
  • 10+ years of experience as an IP litigator (preferred: mix of big law firm training and in-house tech experience).
  • Strong understanding of copyright, patent, trademark, and trade secret law.
  • Proven track record navigating intricate and emerging copyright litigation challenges.
  • Experience with patent litigation, licensing negotiations, and portfolio development.
  • Experience with AI/ML, web technologies, social products, or the mobile space (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to executive, business, and technical audiences.
  • Ability to think strategically while managing high-level risk and detailed problem solving.
