What you'll do

  • Draft and prosecute complex patent applications focused on software, AI, and machine learning technologies.
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide IP strategies to protect products and build a strategic portfolio.
  • Lead invention harvesting efforts to identify and secure business-critical patentable technologies.
  • Provide legal counsel on trade secrets, copyrights, open source software, and M&A due diligence.
  • Manage outside counsel teams and AI-centric workflows to maintain high-quality IP assets.
  • Educate and train technical teams on intellectual property concepts and best practices.
  • Utilize generative AI and advanced legal-tech tools to streamline portfolio management and productivity.

What we're looking for

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing of at least one state bar.
  • Registration to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • At least 4 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications and counseling for strategic harvesting and portfolio development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
  • Experience with intellectual property client counseling, transactional counseling, licensing agreements, and M&A due diligence (preferred).
  • Experience navigating trade secrets and copyrights, particularly as it pertains to software (preferred).
  • Experience with Machine Learning/AI technologies, Open Source licensing, or Fintech (preferred).
