Director, Experience Design Systems

What you'll do

• Lead, coach, and manage a team of product and UX designers focused on developer experience and design systems.
• Establish technical strategies for user experience initiatives and negotiate with senior executives to influence decision-making.
• Oversee the development of AI-enabled design tooling and improve AI-assisted design workflows.
• Manage design system architecture, including component models, semantic tokens, and accessibility standards.
• Guide the design of developer-facing products such as dashboards, APIs, SDKs, and documentation tools.
• Conduct hands-on design work including prototyping, interaction concepts, and high-level design reviews.
• Define and track performance metrics for team health, design quality, and developer satisfaction.
• Build cross-functional partnerships with Product, Engineering, Developer Relations, and Research teams to align goals.

What we're looking for

• A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in product, UX, or interaction design is required.
• At least 2 years of experience leading others is required.
• 5 or more years of experience directly managing product or UX designers (preferred).
• A portfolio demonstrating strong storytelling, systems thinking, and leadership results is preferred.
• Experience designing developer-facing products, platforms, dashboards, or internal tools is preferred.
• Experience building, governing, or scaling a design system is preferred.
• Experience evaluating or improving AI-assisted design or development workflows is preferred.
