TL;DR · Director, Building Automation

As Director, Building Automation, you will lead a team of managers and engineers to define and govern the automation strategy for OCI’s global data center portfolio. You will establish long-term direction for building management systems, OT controls architecture, cybersecurity protocols, and analytics to ensure safe, scalable operations across the fleet. Your daily responsibilities include overseeing design, integration, and commissioning of automation initiatives while managing vendor relationships and technical roadmaps. You will work with cross-functional teams to implement smart building technologies, digital twins, and advanced visualization tools. The role requires expertise in BMS, SCADA, PLC, HMI, and industrial networking, utilizing platforms such as Schneider Electric, Siemens, Rockwell, Ignition, Niagara, and Cisco. You will solve critical infrastructure challenges by ensuring high-quality alarms and consistent control behavior across multi-vendor environments to maintain uptime for mission-critical facilities.

What you'll do

  • Define and govern the automation strategy, standards, and long-term roadmap for global data center building management systems.
  • Establish technical requirements for OT controls architecture, alarm philosophy, network standards, and multi-vendor integration.
  • Oversee the design, commissioning, and operational handoff of automation projects across new sites and retrofits.
  • Establish cybersecurity governance for OT systems including segmentation, access control, and device lifecycle management.
  • Drive the adoption of smart building technologies, advanced analytics, and digital-twin capabilities to improve operational insight.
  • Manage vendor relationships with system integrators, contractors, and platform providers to ensure performance and standardization.
  • Lead and develop a team of managers and engineers within the automation organization.
  • Influence portfolio planning and capital prioritization by identifying risks and modernization opportunities.

What we're looking for

  • Must have 10+ years of experience in controls engineering, building automation, industrial automation, OT systems, or mission-critical facility automation leadership.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience leading managers, engineering teams, or large-scale technical programs across multiple sites or regions.
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Computer, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Deep knowledge of BMS, SCADA, DCS, PLC, HMI, and multi-vendor controls environments is required.
  • Must possess expertise in industrial networking, OT cybersecurity (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST 800-82), and large-scale automation integration.
  • Experience with platforms such as Schneider Electric, Siemens, Rockwell, Ignition, Niagara, Johnson Controls, or Honeywell is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical strategies to executive leadership and align cross-functional teams like IT, security, and construction.
  • Relevant certifications in BMS/controls platforms, industrial networking, or OT cybersecurity are considered a plus.
