As a Critical Environments Operating Engineer, you will join the team responsible for maintaining mission-critical data center infrastructure to ensure 100% uptime for vital digital operations. You will perform day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, generators, switchgear, power distribution, transformers, cooling systems, chillers, and HVAC units. Your role involves recording equipment readings, identifying malfunctions, taking corrective actions, managing work orders through CMMS, and coordinating with vendors to resolve customer-facing tickets. You will utilize tools such as MS Office, Google Suite, and Corrigo while navigating complex infrastructure like building automation systems and industrial controls. The position requires technical expertise in high-stakes environments where you must manage fire/life safety protocols and emergency procedures to protect critical facilities from potential disruptions within a 24/7 operational framework.

What you'll do

Operate and maintain critical building systems including UPS, generators, cooling units, and power distribution infrastructure.
Monitor and adjust mechanical equipment such as boilers, pumps, valves, and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
Record equipment readings and analyze system operations to identify and correct malfunctions immediately.
Manage work orders through a CMMS and coordinate with vendors to resolve customer-facing tickets.
Follow emergency escalation procedures and respond to site emergencies to protect critical infrastructure.
Maintain safe storage of hazardous materials while ensuring the workplace remains clean and compliant with safety standards.
Document technical activities and communicate system status clearly in both written and verbal formats.

What we're looking for

Must have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in a data center or critical facility environment.
Must have demonstrated experience with mission-critical systems including UPS, emergency generators, switchgear, and power distribution.
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to document activities and communicate technical information.
Must have working knowledge of MS Office, Google Suite, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and climb ladders up to 30 feet.
Must be able to work various shifts including holidays and respond to site emergencies as needed.
Preferred experience includes using the Corrigo system and holding Universal EPA 608 certification.
Preferred qualifications include NFPA 70E training and experience with building automation systems (BAS).
