TL;DR · CPU MicroArchitect / RTL Engineer, Site Lead

As a CPU MicroArchitect / RTL Engineer - Site Lead, you will join the Silicon Engineering Group to lead the CPU RTL team at a growing site. You will drive microarchitecture and RTL development across multiple areas of performant cores, moving from high-level architectural exploration through research to detailed specification. Your daily responsibilities include owning RTL design refinement for power, performance, area, and timing goals, while supporting test bench development and simulation for functional verification. You will also conduct performance exploration and collaborate with multifunctional teams on physical design implementation. The role requires expertise in microprocessor architecture, including instruction fetch, branch prediction, out-of-order execution, and cache subsystems. Required skills include Verilog or VHDL, waveform debugging tools, logic design principles, and proficiency in C, C++, Perl, or Python to solve complex microarchitecture challenges for high-performance, low-power processors.

What you'll do

  • Develop and define microarchitecture specifications from high-level exploration through detailed technical research.
  • Own the development, assessment, and refinement of RTL designs to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals.
  • Support test bench development and simulation for functional and performance verification.
  • Explore high-performance strategies and validate that RTL designs meet targeted performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with multifunctional teams to implement and validate physical design aspects like reliability and testability.
  • Lead a team of senior engineers in delivering complex microarchitecture definitions and RTL development.
  • Mentor and support the career development of other engineers on the team.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum BS degree and 15+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of microprocessor architecture.
  • Knowledge of Verilog and/or VHDL.
  • Experience with simulators and waveform debugging tools.
  • Knowledge of logic design principles including timing and power implications.
  • Experience leading a team of senior engineers to deliver complex microarchitecture definition and RTL development, including direct technical contribution (preferred).
  • Record of mentoring and supporting the career development of other engineers (preferred).
  • Expertise in specific microprocessor architecture areas, low power techniques, high performance trade-offs, or programming in C/C++, Perl, or Python (preferred).
