TL;DR · CPU Microarchitect/RTL Engineer

The CPU Microarchitect/RTL Engineer joins the Silicon Engineering Group to architect and develop RTL for next-generation CPUs targeted at low power mobile devices. This role involves microarchitecture development and specification, ranging from high-level architectural exploration to detailed specifications. The engineer will own RTL features by developing, assessing, and refining them to meet specific power, performance, area, and timing goals. Daily responsibilities include supporting test bench development and simulation for functional verification, performing performance exploration and correlation, and collaborating with multifunctional teams to implement physical designs regarding reliability and testability. Candidates should possess experience in Verilog or VHDL, along with knowledge of logic design principles and microprocessor architecture. Preferred skills include using simulators and waveform debugging tools like Verdi, understanding low power techniques, and proficiency in interpretive languages such as Perl or Python.

What you'll do

  • Develop microarchitecture specifications from high-level architectural exploration through detailed research.
  • Own and refine RTL features to meet specific power, performance, area, and timing goals.
  • Support test bench development and simulation for functional and performance verification.
  • Explore high-performance strategies and validate that the RTL design meets target metrics.
  • Implement and validate physical design aspects including timing, area, reliability, testability, and power.
  • Develop RTL for next-generation CPUs targeted at low-power mobile devices.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with either Verilog or VHDL.
  • Experience with microprocessor architecture (preferred).
  • Experience with simulators and waveform debugging tools such as Verdi (preferred).
  • Knowledge of logic design principles (preferred).
  • Understanding of timing, power, and area tradeoffs in CPU microarchitecture (preferred).
  • Understanding of low power and high performance microarchitecture techniques (preferred).
  • Experience using an interpretive language such as Perl or Python (preferred).
