TL;DR · CPU Microarchitect/RTL Engineer

The CPU Microarchitect/RTL Engineer joins the Silicon Engineering Group to develop microarchitecture and RTL for next-generation CPUs targeted at low power mobile devices. This role involves high-level architectural exploration, research, and detailed specification development. The engineer will own specific RTL features to meet performance, area, timing, and power goals while collaborating with multifunctional teams to ensure physical design integrity regarding reliability and testability. Daily responsibilities include performing performance exploration, correlation, and supporting test bench development for functional verification. Candidates should possess experience in Verilog or VHDL and knowledge of logic design principles. Preferred skills include expertise in microprocessor architecture, waveform debugging tools like Verdi, and proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl or Python to navigate the complexities of high-performance, low-power microarchitecture techniques within the mobile processor domain.

What you'll do

  • Conduct microarchitecture research and development from high-level exploration to detailed specifications.
  • Develop, assess, and refine RTL features to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals.
  • Support test bench development and simulation for functional and performance verification.
  • Explore high-performance strategies and validate that the RTL design meets target performance metrics.
  • Implement and validate physical design aspects including timing, area, reliability, testability, and power.
  • Design and develop RTL for next-generation CPUs targeted at low-power mobile devices.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with either Verilog or VHDL.
  • Experience with microprocessor architecture (preferred).
  • Experience with simulators and waveform debugging tools such as Verdi (preferred).
  • Knowledge of logic design principles (preferred).
  • Understanding of timing, power, and area tradeoffs in CPU microarchitecture (preferred).
  • Understanding of low power and high performance microarchitecture techniques (preferred).
  • Experience using an interpretive language such as Perl or Python (preferred).
