Configuration Management (CM) Manager 2 leads a team of Configuration Analysts, Data Managers, Technical Writers, and Engineering Liaisons to ensure disciplined change management and timely product delivery. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining configuration baselines for hardware, software, and documentation while ensuring data integrity across the product lifecycle in alignment with EIA-649 and AS9100 standards. The manager oversees configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and audits like FCAs and PCAs. Day-to-day tasks include managing Engineering Bills of Material, overseeing contract data requirement list deliverables, and coordinating with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams. The role requires proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Data Management (PDM) tools such as Teamcenter and Windchill, along with experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to manage complex hardware and software systems within an aerospace and defense environment.
Lead and develop a team of configuration analysts, data managers, technical writers, and engineering liaisons.
Establish and maintain configuration management plans, processes, and work instructions for assigned programs.
Manage the configuration baseline to ensure accurate incorporation of changes into product structures and documentation.
Oversee configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and physical/functional configuration audits.
Support Change Control Boards by evaluating impacts on cost, schedule, technical risk, and downstream requirements.
Maintain accurate configuration data within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Ensure all contract data requirement list (CDRL) deliverables are scheduled and submitted on time.
Develop and track configuration management metrics to drive continuous process and tool improvements.
What we're looking for
Must possess an active government-issued Secret clearance.
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical, Business, or a related field.
8 years of experience in configuration management, product data management, or engineering; or a Master's with 6 years; or an additional 4 years in lieu of a degree.
Experience leading teams, projects, or technical efforts as a team lead, CAM, project lead, or first-line supervisor.
Working knowledge of CM principles including configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and audits.
Proficiency with PLM/PDM tools (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill) and associated ERP/MRP systems.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material (BOMs).
