Configuration Design Engineer

What you'll do

• Lead the physical layout, sizing, and configuration design of new air vehicles and missile systems from concept to preliminary design.
• Develop parametric CAD models and high-fidelity surface models for aircraft and missile platforms using NX.
• Conduct multi-disciplinary trade studies for engine selection, propulsion integration, planform geometry, and weapons integration.
• Manage spatial integration across teams by defining keep-in/keep-out zones for avionics, fuel, and payload systems.
• Provide clean surface models optimized for CFD, FEA, and electromagnetic signature evaluations.
• Incorporate survivability principles into designs to optimize vehicle shaping for RF and IR signature reduction.
• Estimate mass properties, center of gravity, and stability margins for new flight systems.
• Translate operational requirements from customers and engineers into feasible, mission-capable design concepts.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in conceptual or preliminary design of aircraft, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), or missile systems.
• Proficiency in 3D parametric CAD modeling and advanced surfacing (Siemens NX preferred, CATIA, or Creo).
• Experience executing multi-disciplinary trade studies covering aerodynamics, propulsion integration, structures, and mass properties.
• Ability to work in rapid development, prototyping, or "Skunk Works" style engineering environments.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
• Background in design-for-survivability, MDAO methodologies, or active U.S. Secret/Top Secret clearance (preferred).
