Senior Configuration Design Engineer

What you'll do

• Lead the end-to-end conceptual design process for complex UAV and missile platforms including trade studies and mission analysis.
• Develop aircraft sizing methodologies using parametric modeling and optimization tools like MATLAB and NX Unigraphics.
• Establish geometric standards for Outer Mold Lines (OML) and Inner Mold Lines (IML) to support downstream engineering teams.
• Act as the primary technical decision-maker for early-stage pursuits, including white papers and customer proposals.
• Evaluate configuration alternatives for low-observable survivability, propulsion integration, and structural feasibility.
• Manage high-level vehicle trade studies involving engine selection, fuel systems, and weapons integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish standards for CAD modeling, GD&T, and design release.
• Interface with integrated product teams and military customers to resolve complex design problems.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in conceptual or preliminary design of aerospace systems for UAS, military aircraft, or missile programs.
• Expert-level proficiency in 3D parametric CAD modeling, advanced surfacing, and lofting (Siemens NX preferred).
• Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams and trade studies across aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, and systems integration.
• Deep understanding of system architecture, mission requirements, and full product development lifecycles.
• Strong communication skills with a proven ability to write technical proposals and present solutions to leadership and customers.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
• Advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (preferred); expert knowledge in low-observable shaping and optimization workflows (preferred).
