Commissioning Engineer, Data Centers joins the commissioning team to support rapid growth in data center services across new construction, greenfield projects, and facility upgrades. The role involves applying ASHRAE guidelines to oversee electrical and mechanical equipment installation, performing pre-functional testing, and conducting integrated systems validation. You will develop L1-L5 test scripts, SOPs, and MOPs while troubleshooting critical infrastructure issues and managing stakeholder communications. Key technical responsibilities include network diagnostic testing, heat load testing, and reviewing design drawings for project alignment. Required skills include proficiency in MS Office, BIM360, CxAlloy, and Facility Grid. You must be skilled with Power Quality Meters, thermography, NETA tests, and equipment such as Transformers, UPS systems, Generators, Switchgear, Chillers, CRACs/CRAHs, and liquid cooling systems. This role solves critical operational readiness challenges for large-scale data center infrastructure projects.
Apply commissioning processes and deliverables in accordance with ASHRAE requirements across all project phases.
Oversee electrical and mechanical equipment installation, component startup inspections, and integrated systems validation.
Troubleshoot and diagnose critical mechanical and electrical issues while coordinating resolutions with contractors and vendors.
Develop and review L1-L5 commissioning test scripts, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Methods-of-Procedure (MOPs).
Conduct network diagnostic testing, heat load testing, and scenario testing to validate facility performance.
Review design drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Prepare detailed client commissioning reports and compile comprehensive Systems Manuals for project documentation.
What we're looking for
Must have 5-7 years of relevant engineering or field-testing experience.
Must have 3-5 years providing third-party commissioning services for data center construction projects.
Must have documented experience as an Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Controls third-party Commissioning Engineer on data center projects with capacities of 25+MW.
Must be able to use testing meters including Power Quality Meters, thermography, NETA tests, ground tests, hi-pot, and megger.
Must have hands-on experience testing Transformers, UPS systems, Generators, Switchgear, Chillers, CRACs/CRAHs, liquid cooling systems, and monitoring controls.
Must be proficient in MS Office suite and commissioning software such as BIM360, CxAlloy, or Facility Grid.
Preferred qualifications include an ABET accredited degree, Commissioning Professional certification, PE, or PMP certification.
