As a Commercial & Mid-Market Sales Engineer, you will provide technical expertise to help qualify and close opportunities with customers and partners. You will address observability risks for customers while navigating technical complexities. Ideal candidates possess experience in software engineering, DevOps, SRE, or security engineering, potentially including building DevSecOps frameworks and explaining penetration testing findings to backend teams to determine remediation strategies.

What you'll do

Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to potential clients.
Manage technical engagements with customers during the trial phase to resolve issues and demonstrate value.
Close complex opportunities using advanced competitive knowledge and technical skills.
Develop and execute evaluation plans to educate customers on observability risks.
Communicate customer feedback and competitive landscape insights to internal product teams.
Maintain accurate records of customer input, wins, and losses in the CRM.
Articulate Datadog's value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers and partners.

What we're looking for

Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Software Engineering DevOps, SRE, or Security Engineering roles.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the IT industry.
Experience in programming and scripting with languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, or .NET.
Strong written and oral communication skills to articulate business value and technical advantages.
Ability to deliver product briefings, technical presentations, and lead technical evaluations.
Experience building and operating DevSecOps frameworks is a plus.
Experience explaining penetration testing findings and remediation strategies to backend teams is a plus.
Willingness to travel frequently to meet with customers as part of the role.
