The Cognitive Performance Specialist joins the Human Performance team to provide mental performance and readiness support for Special Operations Forces personnel. Key responsibilities include advising leadership on sport psychology, providing education on executive function, sleep, and self-regulation, and offering training on performance profiling and visualization. The role requires expertise in human performance, kinesiology, or cognitive neuroscience. Candidates must possess core competencies in research, training, and education to improve the physical and psychological well-being of service members within a high-performance tactical environment.

What you'll do

  • Provide evidence-based cognitive, psychological, and behavioral skills training to SOF personnel in individual and group settings.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs to improve attention, adaptability, learning, emotional regulation, and decision-making under pressure.
  • Advise program managers and government leads on matters regarding mental performance and sport psychology.
  • Deliver education on executive function, sleep, self-regulation, memory, skill acquisition, and goal setting.
  • Provide training on cognitive performance factors related to exercise and sports psychology in physical activities.
  • Document all provided services and work performed within enterprise-wide platforms as directed by USSOCOM.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to enhance the mental, physical, and psychological well-being of Service Members.

What we're looking for

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must possess a Secret clearance or be able to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • Master's degree in human performance, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Cognitive Science, Cognitive Neuroscience, Sport Sciences, Performance Psychology, Psychology, or mental health discipline.
  • Doctoral degree (preferred).
  • 3+ years of post-graduate experience as a cognitive performance practitioner or Sport Psychologist with military members, athletes, or high-performance groups.
  • Experience with Special Operations personnel (preferred).
  • BCIA certification for heart rate variability or one year of experience delivering HRV training in a high-performance setting and willingness to obtain the certificate within one year.
  • Ability to provide evidence-based cognitive, psychological, and behavioral skills training.
