What you'll do

  • Lead a team of senior computational research consultants on projects ranging from months to several years.
  • Manage the planning, implementation, and reporting for externally funded multi-institutional research collaborations.
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic decision-making, budgeting, staffing, and service policy development.
  • Draft proposals and manage project lifecycles to ensure timely delivery of computational research support.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of high-performance computing training programs and software distributions.
  • Coordinate team workloads and monitor progress across various consulting engagements and internal projects.
  • Provide expert consultation on programming, code improvement, database options, and complex computational problems.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 7-10 years of experience in advanced computing support, research consulting, and training.
  • Project management experience overseeing grants with specific deliverables and budgets.
  • Ability to work with researchers on projects, proposals, and grants to ensure timely delivery of computational research support.
  • Highly developed leadership skills including facilitation, team building, conflict management, coaching, and performance management.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal skills, and proficiency in written and oral communications for various group sizes.
  • Experience in diverse computer environments, including local and national resources like National Cyberinfrastructure systems, ACCESS, and NAIRR.
  • Proficiency in computational programming and tools including traditional HPC, cloud computing, and data analysis.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a STEM field (preferred).
  • Expertise in outreach activities (preferred).
  • Experience writing proposals (preferred).
  • Experience in cloud computing, including containers (preferred).
  • Experience in HPC topics, such as parallel programming (preferred).
