JOB TITLE: Air Vehicle Lead, Air Maneuver Dominance The Air Vehicle Lead, Air Maneuver Dominance joins the Maneuver Dominance team to lead the technical convergence of an advanced airborne platform. This role focuses on developing unmanned rotorcraft and complex systems, specifically re-inventing an existing platform through heavy modification and the integration of advanced autonomy, mission systems, and payloads. You will execute rapid engineering evaluations, perform physics-based trade studies, and lead design reviews for aircraft configuration, composites, mechanisms, and structures. Key responsibilities include building prototypes, analyzing failures, and managing hardware test plans. You will utilize first-principles physics to address challenges in aerodynamics, flight dynamics, GNC, and aeroelasticity. The role requires expertise in VTOL platforms, autonomous systems, and robotics, utilizing tools like JIRA and Confluence within Agile and Waterfall methodologies to solve defense capability demands.

What you'll do

Lead the technical convergence and design of advanced unmanned rotorcraft and complex airborne platforms.
Execute rapid engineering concept evaluations and perform physics-based trade studies for complex aerospace problems.
Manage the advanced design, configuration, and implementation of complex air vehicle structures and mechanisms.
Lead design reviews, interface with vendors, and define comprehensive hardware test plans.
Build physical prototypes, analyze component failures, and transition successful designs into production.
Support critical software and hardware demonstrations for customers as needed.
Provide technical input across aerodynamics, flight dynamics, GNC, and aeroelasticity.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of 8 years in technical leadership roles such as Technical Program Manager, Chief Engineer, or Lead Engineer.
Leadership experience in engineering team management and project execution for the aerospace or defense sectors.
Deep experience developing VTOL platforms and broad exposure to aircraft concepts, design layouts, and propulsion concepts.
Hands-on experience with the development and deployment of autonomous systems, particularly in rotorcraft or large UAS.
Knowledge of aircraft design principles, including vertical lift, build integration, and flight test execution.
Strong project management skills using JIRA and Confluence with knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
