TL;DR · EMC Test Engineer, Air Dominance and Strike

EMC Test Engineer, Air Dominance and Strike joins the Air Dominance & Strike Electrical Engineering team to design, test, and validate electromagnetic compatibility and interference solutions for electronic products. The role involves leading EMI/EMC testing on complex systems, driving product maturity through rapid prototyping, and developing mitigation strategies for defense applications. Key responsibilities include authoring test plans, performing field tests in real-world environments, and ensuring compliance with military, aerospace, and aviation standards such as MIL-STD-461G, MIL-STD-464D, RTCA DO-160, and SAE. The position requires expertise in E3 design principles, HERO, HEMP, and lightning protection. Candidates must be proficient with spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, anechoic chambers, and simulation tools like ANSYS or CST Microwave Studio. Technical skills include PCB layout techniques and familiarity with interfaces like CAN, ETH, MIPI, DP, I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB.

What you'll do

  • Lead and execute EMI/EMC testing and analysis on complex electronic systems to ensure operational integrity.
  • Drive product maturity through rapid prototyping, design verification, and rigorous qualification for defense applications.
  • Implement advanced design strategies to proactively identify and mitigate EMI/EMC issues at their root.
  • Author and maintain comprehensive test plans, reports, and documentation for critical compliance verification.
  • Identify program-specific risks and define mitigation strategies using modeling, simulation, or experimental activities.
  • Ensure all EMC requirements are integrated into the product design from the initial inception phase.
  • Conduct field tests to evaluate product performance in challenging, real-world operational environments.
  • Maintain mastery over military, aerospace, and defense standards such as MIL-STD-461G and RTCA DO-160.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in EMI/EMC design and testing within military, aerospace, or avionics sectors.
  • Expertise in EMC/EMI standards including MIL-STD-461G, MIL-STD-464D, RTCA DO-160, and SAE.
  • Deep expertise in E3 design principles, HERO, HEMP, Lightning Protection, ESD, RF exposure limits, and operational electromagnetic compatibility.
  • Proficiency using EMI/EMC testing equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, antennas, LISN, and anechoic chambers.
  • Experience with advanced simulation tools like ANSYS or CST Microwave Studio for EMI analysis and predictive modeling.
  • Understanding of PCB Layout techniques and ability to interpret complex schematics for defense systems.
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces including CAN, ETH, MIPI, DP, I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
