Agile Coach and Release Train Engineer
The Agile Coach and Release Train Engineer serves as a servant leader and chief coach for the Agile Release Train, driving execution and transformation across the organization. This role involves facilitating Program Increment Planning, managing program-level risks, resolving cross-team dependencies, and promoting continuous flow. The individual will mentor team members, product managers, and system architects while delivering training on Scaled Agile (SAFe), Scrum, and Kanban methodologies. Key responsibilities include establishing lean agile routines, DevSecOps practices, and delivery automation to solve complex technical systems engineering problems for the warfighter. Required skills include experience with the Software Development Life Cycle, enterprise Agile delivery tools like Jira and ServiceNow, and knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework. Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance and relevant certifications such as SAFe RTE, SAFe SPC, PMI-ACP, or PMP.
Facilitate and execute Program Increment (PI) Planning sessions for the Agile Release Train.
Manage program-level risks and resolve cross-team dependencies to ensure continuous flow.
Mentor Product Managers, System Architects, and Scrum Masters on Lean-Agile principles.
Deliver SAFe training and workshops to promote organizational adoption of Agile methodologies.
Track ART metrics regarding commitments, pace, quality, and continuous improvement.
Partner with senior leadership to establish lean-agile routines for DevSecOps and delivery automation.
Translate real-world customer needs into execution roadmaps and technical specifications.
What we're looking for
3+ years of experience with Systems Engineering, Software Development Life Cycle, enterprise Agile tools, and managing multi-team execution.
Experience operating as an RTE or Lead Coach facilitating PI Planning, tracking ART metrics, and managing risk mitigation.
Experience coaching and mentoring technology leaders through sophisticated enterprise Agile transformations.
Experience designing and executing organizational transformation frameworks using SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban.
Ability to lead discussions with executives, system architects, product managers, and team leads.
Active TS/SCI clearance and willingness to take a polygraph exam.
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience, Master’s degree and 1+ year of experience, or Associate’s degree and 5+ years of experience in IT projects.
Ability to obtain an IAM Level I Certification (e.g., Security+, CAP) within 30 days of hire.
Agile Certification such as SAFe RTE, SAFe SPC, PMI-ACP, or PMP (preferred).
Experience supporting IC clients (preferred).
Knowledge of ServiceNow, Jira, and enterprise delivery dashboards (preferred).
Knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework (preferred).
