The Wireless Communication Systems Engineer joins the Research and Development team to support the design and implementation of advanced MANET and MIMO communications systems. This role involves participating in all phases of wireless technology projects, including system design, requirement specification, algorithmic development, simulation, prototyping, and field testing. The engineer will perform performance benchmarking, support FPGA and software teams with fixed-point design, and lead multi-disciplinary teams for feature development. Key technical requirements include proficiency in MATLAB for modeling and performance analysis, along with expertise in RF propagation, channel modeling, and digital signal processing techniques like OFDM and MIMO. The work focuses on solving complex communication problems for mission-critical applications in defense, law enforcement, and public safety, specifically addressing challenges in congested and contested spectrum environments.
Perform system design and develop technical requirement specifications.
Develop, simulate, and characterize algorithms for wireless communication systems.
Conduct system performance simulations, benchmarking, and testing.
Support FPGA and software teams with fixed-point design, implementation, and testing.
Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams for product and feature development.
Set, track, and drive development schedules and project tasks.
Plan and participate in laboratory and field testing and troubleshooting.
Prepare technical documentation and materials for R&D business development.
What we're looking for
Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contracts.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with at least three years of wireless systems experience.
Master's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience with wireless communication protocols and modem architecture, including PHY, MAC, and higher-layer interactions.
Working knowledge of RF propagation, channel modeling, and wireless channel characteristics.
Solid understanding of digital communication and signal processing techniques like MIMO, OFDM, and synchronization.
Understanding of RF impairments such as AGC, phase noise, frequency offset, and IQ imbalance.
Proficiency in MATLAB for algorithm development, modeling, simulation, and performance analysis.
