Test Engineer (SDET)
As a Test Engineer (SDET), you will join the engineering team to build and scale automated testing frameworks, pipelines, and tools for the Risk Cloud platform. You will be responsible for designing robust automation suites, expanding test coverage across the ecosystem, and systematically isolating complex software regressions. Your daily work involves developing end-to-end regression suites using TypeScript and Playwright, while integrating AI-driven tooling to accelerate development and enhance precision. You will validate backend APIs, manage test data in PostgreSQL databases, and utilize Datadog for monitoring distributed systems. The role requires proficiency in TypeScript, experience with AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot or Cursor, and a deep understanding of the testing pyramid. You will also mentor QA Analysts and collaborate in Agile sprints to ensure high-quality delivery within the governance, risk, and compliance software domain.
Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks and end-to-end regression suites using TypeScript and Playwright.
Integrate AI-driven tooling into test authoring, regression analysis, and coverage expansion to accelerate delivery timelines.
Develop and maintain backend API and integration layer tests following the testing pyramid methodology.
Diagnose and resolve complex software regressions by analyzing distributed system logs and Datadog monitoring data.
Manage and optimize automated test data flows using PostgreSQL and other relational database systems.
Create technical documentation including test strategies, automation runbooks, and detailed defect reports in Confluence.
Mentor QA Analysts by coaching them on automation best practices and reviewing their test code.
Define department-wide quality standards regarding AI governance, coverage ownership, and automated versus manual testing boundaries.
What we're looking for
Must have 3–5 years of professional experience in software test automation, systems validation, or backend engineering in a high-growth SaaS environment.
Must possess strong programming skills in TypeScript or a comparable scripting language.
Must have practical experience using AI coding assistants like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code in daily workflows.
Must demonstrate deep mastery of Fowler's Testing Pyramid to design and execute unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
Must have experience coaching and upskilling less-automation-savvy testers or engineers.
Must be able to independently debug distributed backend microservices using logs and monitoring platforms like Datadog.
Preferred experience with message queues (RabbitMQ), graph databases (Neo4j), or distributed caching layers (Redis).
Preferred experience validating multi-tenant B2B SaaS applications with a focus on security compliance and high availability.
