Test Engineer (SDET)

What you'll do

• Design and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks and end-to-end regression suites using TypeScript and Playwright.
• Write automation code to validate backend APIs and integration layers following the testing pyramid.
• Diagnose and isolate platform defects by analyzing distributed system logs and Datadog monitoring patterns.
• Manage and optimize automated test data flows using relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Author technical documentation including test strategies, automation runbooks, and detailed defect reports.
• Mentor QA Analysts by pairing on test writing and building their automation skills.
• Participate in peer code reviews to ensure compliance with team quality conventions and design standards.
• Define department-wide QA expectations regarding coverage ownership, AI governance, and documentation standards.

What we're looking for

• 3–5 years of professional experience in software test automation, systems validation, or backend engineering within a high-growth SaaS environment.
• Strong programming experience using TypeScript or a comparable scripting language.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code in a normal workflow.
• Deep command of Fowler's Testing Pyramid and proficiency writing API, functional end-to-end, and performance tests.
• Experience coaching or upskilling less-automation-savvy testers or engineers.
• Demonstrated ability to independently debug distributed backend microservices by parsing logs and utilizing platforms like Datadog.
• Familiarity with validating message queues (RabbitMQ), graph databases (Neo4j), or distributed caching layers (Redis) (preferred).
• Background validating multi-tenant B2B SaaS applications with security compliance tools like GitLab Ultimate, Sonarqube, and Wiz (preferred).
