TL;DR · Technology Engineering Associate Director, Observability and Event Management

As the Technology Engineering Associate Director, Observability and Event Management, you will serve as the technical authority for the enterprise’s monitoring, telemetry, and event lifecycle capabilities. You will lead the technology strategy and engineering of observability services across logs, metrics, traces, and digital experience monitoring while managing a team focused on proactive reliability. Your daily work involves building modern telemetry pipelines using OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, and log aggregation, alongside implementing AIOps to improve signal-to-noise ratios and automate remediation. You will manage tool selection and vendor relationships for platforms like Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana, or SolarWinds. The role addresses the critical business problem of ensuring infrastructure and applications are measurable and resilient through automated event detection, correlation, and noise reduction to facilitate data-driven engineering decisions across the entire enterprise ecosystem.

What you'll do

  • Define and own the enterprise strategy for logs, metrics, traces, events, and digital experience monitoring.
  • Establish observability as an enterprise service with clear standards, support models, and adoption requirements.
  • Lead the engineering of modern telemetry pipelines using OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, and log aggregation.
  • Manage event management systems including detection, correlation, noise reduction, and automated response.
  • Implement AIOps capabilities to improve signal-to-noise ratios and accelerate root-cause identification.
  • Drive automation-first approaches for alerting, remediation, and event routing across all platforms.
  • Lead tool selection, roadmap development, and vendor management for observability and event platforms.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers focused on delivering enterprise observability services.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Business Administration with 9 years experience, Master’s with 8 years, or PhD with 4 years.
  • Deep expertise in observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana, or SolarWinds.
  • Strong understanding of OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, and telemetry standards.
  • Hands-on experience with event correlation, AIOps, and automation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ITIL Event Management, Incident Management, and Operations Control.
  • Proven ability to translate telemetry into insights for both engineering and leadership audiences.
  • Exceptional communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and translate customer needs into product roadmap offerings.
